LAMAS TCGB Conference – (Nov’08)
Having been involved in practising and instructing Taekwondo & Kung Fu for over 14 & 8 years respectively I asked The Taekwondo Council Great Britain & The Classic Tiger Kung Fu Association if I could organise a joint awards evening to recognise and celebrate the efforts of members of both associations.
After several months of careful planning and negotiating, over a hundred people visited Hawkwell House Hotel in Iffley for an evening including a three-course meal, martial arts demonstrations, live music and a lot of medals!
World-renowned Grandmaster, Sikung Lowe generously agreed to be guest of honour and having found a date that didn’t clash with his international commitments, he was on hand to give each student their award.
As well as a charity raffle and collections it was agreed that any proceeds from the evening would be split between Cancer Research UK & subsidising equipment, training and events for students.
The first time an event like this has been held; it proved to be a great success and is now likely to become an annual event.
